EMPATHY, CLARITY, AND SUPPORT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Let's Talk

Some Things You Carry Alone.

This Doesn't Have to Be One of Them.

Life can knock you sideways.

A trauma you can't shake.
A marriage that ended.

A persistent low mood that clouds even the brightest days.

An anxiety that hums beneath the surface, tightening its grip when you least expect it.

A career that no longer fits,

or grief that sits heavier than you let on.

You keep showing up, keep holding it together - but underneath, something needs attention.

Hi, I'm Richard.

I work with adults who are ready to take that next step, and I'm here to make starting as easy as possible.

Who I Help

You don't have to be in crisis to reach out. You just have to want something to change.

I work with adults 18 and over, and I have a particular focus on men - because too many carry their weight in silence, waiting until things feel unbearable. You don't have to wait that long.

I can help if you're dealing with:

Trauma Support

Including experiences you've never spoken about  - whether from childhood, relationships, or events that still surface when you least expect them

Life Transitions

Divorce, separation, family conflict, grief and loss, retirement, ageing, chronic health issues, or a fading sense of purpose.

Sometimes it's not one big thing, but the weight of everything shifting at once

Alcohol and Other Drug Use

Including when it sits alongside other struggles - whether you're questioning your relationship with substances or managing something more complex

Anxiety, Stress and Burnout

That won't switch off - the constant mental noise, the physical tension, the feeling that you're running on empty but can't seem to slow down

Depression

And the flatness that comes with it - the loss of motivation, the disconnection from things that once mattered, and the quiet but persistent sense that something isn't right

Everyone is welcome, whoever you are.

If what you're facing isn't on this list, reach out anyway.

YOUR ONLINE COUNSELLOR

About Richard

I've spent more than a decade working in mental health and alcohol and other drug services. But experience on paper is only part of it.

Before coming to social work I had a varied career that included the ADF, natural resource management and corporate governance. I've walked through my own recovery. I understand what it's like to feel that reaching out is a step too far - and I know how much lighter things can feel once you do.

That lived experience matters to some of the people I see, you may find it easier to talk with someone who's been there.

I'm an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Above all, I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to help you move toward a life that feels rich and meaningful - on your terms.

My Therapeutic Approach

There's no single right way through this, and I don't pretend there is. One size never fits all.

I draw mainly on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Trauma-Focused ACT (TF-ACT) - approaches that help you make room for difficult feelings, while building a life around what genuinely matters to you.

Where it helps, I bring in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

What that means for you: therapy shaped around your goals, your pace, and your view of the world. I listen first, then we decide together what helps.

Why Private Online Counselling?

Think of telehealth as a bridge - one that connects you to professional help without the barriers of distance, time, or travel.

Whether you're on your couch at home, travelling, or in the office during lunch, my online therapy services offer the flexibility to keep up with therapy no matter how busy life gets.

Many of my clients also find that being in a familiar environment helps them feel more relaxed and open, often leading to better progress in therapy.

At Wattle Springs Therapy, I'm committed to making sure your online experience is just as effective as meeting in person. I use secure, easy-to-use technology to keep your privacy fully protected, while adapting proven therapy techniques to work seamlessly online — all with the same warmth and personal care you'd expect from me face to face.

You don't need your GP's sign-off to begin.

No cap on therapy sessions.

We work at the pace that's right for you, not a number set by someone else.

Clinical flexibility.

I shape our work around your needs, without the limits attached to funded programs.
